On Radio Scotland, Ray McKinnon was complaining that we had a goal chalked off that he felt was wrong - he was an angry man. |
Thought the so called foul in the build up was soft, particularly in context of what the ref had let ride before, but you can easily make a case for it as a foul. |

Hard to say, flag went up and keeper never made an effort to stop it. Cant really tell what would have happened otherwise. Looked offside at first glance although it was finished neatly by Panayatou |

Certainly not offside and goalie made full attempt to save, a harsh decision to awArd a foul especially as moments later a similar challenge on bates at the other end and the ref waves play on ! Bates fully deserved mom award best display for raith 👍 _________________ Davie McGurn gone but never forgotten! |

I agree with McKinnon that the 'foul' which caused the goal to be disallowed was soft, but not sure I agree with him that we deserved something from the game - the Huns are no great shakes, but once again for 45 minutes we stood off them, admired them and continuously surrendered possession to them. Better second 45 but no support to the forwards.
Pass marks to Cuthbert, Davo and Bates. Harry P looked decent, but starved of service. McKeown and Stewart had shockers.
Longridge very lucky not to see red for his kick out.
Surprised there's not been more said about Craigen having to go off - it looked like he was taken out by a blow to his face, off the ball. Davo was raging about it. _________________ Dougie Hill

Looks like we have the tactics sorted then.
Play firstly not to lose and see what happens.
We are so easy to play against its laughable as we sit off teams and with our fullbacks not looking like they are being encouraged to get forward the midfield play across the way and back then across then back then lose the ball.
Make no mistake Rangers were a decent side but we just rolled over and let them have the ball without pressure and when we had it we were bereft of ideas and gave them it back.
At what point and against what team are we actually going to have a go.
We never had one single attempt on goal again and must be the most negative team in the league. _________________ aqm |

Poor 1st half with Stewart, Callachan, McKeown and Longridge all pretty guff!
Second 45 and we were a far better looking team but still didn't look like scoring although it must be said that if anyone is going to look like create chances then it could be young Harry.
Pity Craigan didn't get longer he may just have done better and had he not needed replaced I think Longridge might have been hooked for Anderson.
Still it's a sad day when the best midfield performance we've seen for weeks comes from Toshney.
I'd have liked to have seen Matthews and either Craigan or McCord in for Callachan and Robertson who have been awful of late, Robertson wasn't anything special tonight and Callachan had another bad day at the office too.
Bates, Bene and Toshney were our best performers one the 90 with Connolly, Davo and McKeown all good in short spells even if the latter ultimately cost us the game with a terrible bit of play late in the 1st half.
Shame really tonight was probably our best chance to take something from a fairly ordinary Rangers team. _________________ Competitive goals: Vaughan 19, Easton 11, Hamilton 10, Smith 9, Stanton 7, Mullin 4, Connolly 3, O'Reilly 3, Rudden 3, S Brown 2, Dick 1, Gullan 1, Masson 1, Matthews 1, Millen 1, Mitchell 1, Murray, Watson 1, OG's 1, |

The atmosphere tonight was dire at both ends.
It's not that long ago that the prospect of playing the Huns at the San Starko under the lights would have whipped the whole town into a frenzy. _________________ Dougie Hill

Agree Scotty.
There is a lack of belief in the side and its not doing us any good. McKinnon needs to look at the players who let us down most weeks and get them sorted out. Harry P should have been on from the start instead of Stewart Slapstick, who is appalling.
We made rangers look better than they actually were, we stood off them, played the ball to them, slow movement, total lack of skill and surrendered like wimps. Why do our players lift teh ball up to another player when it would be easier to pass the ball on the deck???? As for throw-ins - what ajoke.
Not good enough and yet with some decent passes we could have miracoulously got a goal and an equaliser. |

Got 35 mins, 'scored' only for it to be rescinded for a foul in the build up. Pretty decent and mobile, but starved of service as our midfield never got to grips with a Rangers midfield.
Think he'll do well if he gets decent service.
Good result for the Foxes tonight, 14 games to go...... _________________ A proud member of the 45. Saor Alba. |

Hiya Ross - welcome back! The manager had Harry on the bench (I think) until 55 minutes. I wasn't there, but from what I heard, there weren't too many balls to the forwards. The manager is furious that Harry's "goal" was diaallowed. All in all, he seems to have impressed. |

Many Thanks rovers4ever, I'm still buzzing from the result, and Vardy's first goal was "Effin" brilliant!
But this is your forum not Leicester's, so back to Rovers
I'm glad he had a good first game, and once he's up to the pace of your league hopfully he can pop a few in that count this time. |

I'll try and see his "goal" if I can. See below...

Longridge was a red card all day long. I've no idea how he got away with it. He was actually so bad that the red card would probably have benefitted us.
Overall the result was much better than I expected. The Rangers were okay but not great and although we were always in the game we never looked like scoring.
Positives were seeing Toshney back on the pitch, Thomson back on the bench and the performance of Bates. Overall we looked reasonably good defensively but woefully short in attacking ability. Harry did enough to suggest he could be a useful signing though.
Very disappointing performances from Callachan (again!) and Longridge. Stewart looks out of form at the moment as well. _________________ If I were a fighter I'd probably kick your ass. |

I was at the game tonight and that first half from a rovers point of view was emabarressing. We were far better in the 2nd half but dont have any belief that we can score or win games.Rangers arent the greatest and if we had a go at them then i fancy we could have got something out it.I came away from starks had a wee rant about the performance, moaned about liverpool getting beat then came home.I got in the house thought of ally and what he is going through and said to myself there is more important things than a game of football. _________________ YOULL NEVER WALK ALONE
