From our angle at the opposite end of main stand, it looked like the defender made a mess of trying to clear off the line, but Lewis's original shot looked on target, so his goal. But that's just an impression - like you, I'm awaiting highlights package to clarify.
But really it doesn't matter - we're top of the league regardless |

Just home as we drove via Perth and the M90 due to the A92 closure.
That was as cold a night at Arbroath as I've felt in many a tear with precious little from Rovers to warm the heart....at least until the 95th min!
That was an ugly win! The best you can say about it is that it shows our resolve and commitment to play until we win. Rovers shaded the stats and Arbroath didn't really trouble our goal so just maybe we deserved it the more?
Quite a few men in yellow had off nights, nothing really stinking but Easton, Byrne, Gullan, Dick and Millen didn't play to their recent high standards.
Winning once or twice with a late goal/s is luck, doing it consistently isn't.

Match Highlights up.
Looks like an OG from defender sclaffing it on the line but the keeper was well beaten by the shot. _________________ Talk on! Talk on!

This run of late goals is incredible but we can't keep that up. To be top of the league is amazing but to have not won a single league match by more than one goal is a bit concerning. Late goals to win matches where you haven't played well is indeed the sign of title winners but so to is solid, if not spectacular, comfortable wins along the way. Would rather see a few of those in the coming weeks and months. _________________ Fantalk~Often wrong but never in doubt |

The shot was on target, the defender's attempt to clear hit the crossbar and went in, I think that should be a goal for Vaughan, but I'm not sure the standard used. The classic standard is if the shot was on target, a deflection that goes in isn't an OG unless the keeper was saving it before it was deflected, and that shot was definitely heading in. |

I think we'd all agree that was a bit harsh on Arbroath who probably did enough to merit a draw. But the reason we got a 95th minute winner be it a sclaffed OG or whatever was simply because we pressed for the win and were prepared to get the ball forward into the box while Arbroath were happily running down the clock.
It was a miserable night, it's a crap pitch tight and last night heavy. The wind really picked up second half with a heavy drizzle blowing through. It was obvious it was not going to be a night for silky passing triangles with Arbroath getting everyone behind the ball out of possession and doing a high press forcing a lot of long balls. Disappointed that Hamilton dropped out because it would have been good to match him up against O'Brien and get us up the park.
The camera angle doesnt do Aiden Connelys goal justice. It was a good knock down from Stanton and a super volley from a tight angle. |

Well done Lads!
It's starting to look like: "Just another day at the office"?
We Didn't play to our best, but Northern Rover's post probably gives us good reasons for this.
I watched the game on Arbroath TV which bore little resemblance to a football commentary, more like a night out with Fermer and Ando at the pub Still three good points in the bag and a huge pressure game to come on Saturday at Tanadice. (FOR DUNDEE UNITED!!!!)

No doubt it is Vaughany's goal. Beat the keeper and going in when Hamilton miskicked it in off the underside of the bar.
Sam worked very hard to create the chance for Aidan, who finished emphatically.
Big victory considering so many of our players seemed out-of-sorts. |

From what I understand from the EPL/ FA.....
IF the attempt was on target it goes to the player even if another player come in to contact with the ball.....
An own goal is when a defending player contacts an off target strike and is diverted into the goal......but I could be wrong
Anyone know a referee? _________________ Born a Rover Live a Rover Die a Rover |

Been reported on social media that Millen, Vaughan and the gaffer were giving it big licks to the Arbroath fans, including reports the gaffer gave them the old Winston Churchill salute
I know Easton is a right wind up merchant, but we just don't need things like this to spoil the journey we are on _________________ http://www.helpforheroes.org.uk/ |

I've looked at it a few times and from the camera at ground level beside the goal it actually looks like it may just be going past until the defender's intervention. I can't make up my mind if there's a slight nick on the ball on it's way towards the goal off another defender to possibly alter the flight of the ball.
Hamilton definitely helps it into the net big time with his sclaff.
I'm going for an OG.
To be honest I don't actually care. Maybe Vaughany does for his personal goal tally. However, its gone in. Three points and off we go.š _________________ Talk on! Talk on!

Looked again at the reverse angle shot. The ball is goalside of the final defender, and seems to have taken a very slight nick off the first defender which pushed it outward. So the initial shot is certainly on target, and the slightly deflected shot still looks to be headed inside the post to me. Iām scoring it for Vaughan on my tally on the Team Talk thread. |

You are spot on , Tx, and right to add the goal to LV's tally. I note that it's also counting in the leading Championship goalscorers chart. Surprised that others are so begrudgingly of awarding a goal to one of our own! š ( a crucial goal at that ) |
