Looking back to seasons previous, and specifically v Stirling in the playoffs a couple of years ago, it was frustrating to see our team not try and have a good go at them, specially the likes of Carcary. Do you think the players we have now are up for this? it's my opinion the team that wants this the most will take it. thoughts? _________________ if you're having girl problems I feel bad for you son, i've got 99 problems but a football team ain't one. hit me! |

Sorry but IMHO Stirling totally outplayed us by being better footballers, and having better tactics, nothing to do with desire.
Do players want it ?
Well if we go up they will get a medal, a bonus, a chance to play at a higher level and probably a wage increase, so yes I would suggest they do want it. |

You would think it was an easy question. I however,am finding it difficult to evaluate the mood of the players.
The sheer inconsistancy of this team makes me wonder each game "whose gonna turn-up this time"
They might well want it, but wanting it and actually WORKING towards achieving it are not neccessarily the same thing.
I want to be a millionaire..........but to be honest , I have never worked hard enough or taken the risks neccessary or indeed had the opportunities.( or if I had, they passed me by without me noticing)
These players ARE in a position where they can influence the outcome of the league and they could win it...............but, they have not only to want it ,but they will have to work together hard to achieve this.
As far as I am concerned............the glass IS half empty...................till someone comes along and tops me up _________________ Born a Rover Live a Rover Die a Rover |

The idea of "wanting it" is one of these ridiculous concepts that comes from football fans who have run out of clichés.
The idea that one team will beat another because they "want it" more is ludicrous. So is the suggestion that players in a title-chasing team don't "want it" enough. I would imagine they all want nothing more. |

I disagree, I think you can tell if players want it. When Scotland played France and won it wasn't thru skill, it was thru desire and passion to win. We wanted it more and therefore worked harder to grind it out. _________________ Say Oooh Ahh Dazza, Say Oooh Ahh Dazza! |

Speaking of cliches........... straying off topic I know...
"Clichés should be avoided like the plague. That goes without saying, at the end of the day.
Of course, the football world is riddled with them, from sick parrots to stalls being set out and giving it 110%."

Good article as well. I paticularly like this section:
Quote: | Every week, every day there are surprises and things which make no sense. A few recent examples:
(1) The recall of Emile Heskey to the England squad. Apparently you could have knocked him down with a feather when he heard the news – a phenomenon which usually only occurs when he enters a penalty area.

If every one of our players were as consistent as Graham Weir at putting in 100% effort performances week in week out, we'd have sewn the title up 2 months ago.
Also you could add Wilson and Campbell to the consistent 100%ers. _________________ No no no no ma wee laddie. |

have to agree , not enough effort being put in by some players, why , you need to ask them |

I think the players want to win the league because they are naturally competative. I think McGlynn wants to win the league because his future managerial career depends on it, as he lacks a proven track record.
The Directors on the other hand may not be so keen on us going up. Division 1 would mean bigger overheads, higher wages, bringing in new players, etc.
I really hope we do it with style and win the league outright and although things have taken a turn for the worse I am confident that we have the players to win the league, but the midfield needs to be sorted out. _________________ Yesterday I woke up sucking a lemon. |

Surly the board would be happy that with all these extra overheads there would also be bigger crowds. St J, Dundee, Dunfermline, Livingston, Partick, morton will all bring big crowds. It looks like either St J or Partick will go up but Falkirk might come down. And if east fife came up thats a lot of big attendances next season.
From a fans point of veiw there are also a lot of fairly close away trips.
