I agree 100% with this. The only thing more boring than the English getting hyped about the World Cup is the number of Scots complaining about the hype in some sort of mock outrage.
Let's be honest guys if Scotland was there then we'd be working ourselves up to a frenzy as well. Think back to the front page of the Record in 98 or even when we were in play offs or games like the Italy qualifier. The country went nuts and rightly so. So let the English go nuts if they like. And as for moaning about the commentators and 1966 - if we'd won a world cup we'd still be going about it too. It's like telling a Rovers fan that they can't mention the fact we won the League Cup. I don't know about you lot but I bring it up at every opportunity because it was magic. And I'm sure winning the World Cup was magic too.
Personally I can't be bothered with the Anyone but England nonsense as I think being Scottish is much more positive than simply being anti-England. I don't even mind if they win it although I can't see them doing it. The only thing that will frustrate me about the World Cup is that Scotland aren't there. If as a nation we focused our anger on that rather than the tiresome ABE debate every 2 years we might be in a better position. _________________ I don't want to go to Idaho, I'd rather watch Christian Nade |

Brazil or Spain will stick a fiver on each of them. Fancy England to get to semi's. |

can't see england winning it but they should go further than before with Capello as manager. I think their keeper is a weak spot which will cost them in the later rounds. I actually dislike the Italian team much more than the English team.
I'd just like someone other than the usual suspects to win it so I will be cheering AnybodybutBrazilArgentinaGermanyItaly _________________ Join the Raith Trust at www.raithtrust.org.uk |

I can't see us doing much this year, maybe last 8.
This "Engerlund" media frenzy is tiresome to all Englishmen.
We know we won't win it and we know we don't have the best players but the hacks in Fleet Street can't write "we expect to fail" or "we'll be lucky to get to last 8"
Their job is to get everyone pumped up because the suppliers need to sell advertising, shirts, scarves, banners, beer etc.
Let's just hope we don't get the riots and street brawls that happened after Euro 2008 when we inevitably fail again. |

After some lengthy consideration I have plumped for £2 on Brazil at 9/2.
I hate to say it, but my waters are telling me it will be an England-Brazil Final - with Brazil winning of course! My second choice was England, but Ladbrokes would ban me for life if I tried to put money on England! Best just to stick with Brazil.
True, Brazil are not the force they once were... but the advantage that the South American countries have over the Europeans is altitude familiarity.
Most of the South American countries regularly play at altitudes similar to or above those in South Africa, whereas the Europeans don't.
While I agree with the whispers that a European country could possibly do well, I think that the altitude factor will favour the South Americans - but with Chile and Paraguay unfancied, I think the most likely outcome for the Final will either be Brazil-Argentina, Brazil-England or Brazil-Spain. _________________ Oh no no no Geordie Munro,

Anyone looking for a quality 'special' on the World Cup need not look any further than Ladbrokes offering odds of 3/1 on England to get knocked out on penalties.
I'll have a fiver on it thanks! _________________ Oh no no no Geordie Munro,

It is not the England team that annoy me it is all the rubbish that the English media, commentators etc come out with and I think that's what turns people from the other "home" nations off. Even the government have got involved, yesterday at Prime Ministers questions David Cameron announced that the flag of St George instead of the Union Jack will fly over Downing St. whilst England are still in the World Cup !!! I am absolutely convinced that the flag of the other "home" nations would not be flown if they had been fortunate enough (or good enough) to have been involved. I very much hope that the Union Jack is back flying over Downing St. soon. |

Agreed 100%. Mr Cameron has obviously forgotten that he is the Prime Minister for BRITAIN and not solely the Prime Minister for ENGLAND.
If he wants England to win the World Cup then so what, but as the most powerful person in this country and someone who is used to being in the media spotlight, I think he could have done a better job keeping his allegiance private.
Even if the previous PM(and we all know who that was! ) wanted England to win, I don't think he would have been so rational as to publicly state it on telly. _________________ Oh no no no Geordie Munro,
