Right, 2 games early i know, but time to look at the team and division this year.
Firstly i will base this on the assumption we get 4 points from the next 2 games, although on current form i do expect us to get all 6, all be it a narrow win over cowden and the hope the team dont get too complacent.
The league, whilst it may not appear so will be much tighter than last season as i fully expect PT, Morton and DD to improve, possibly after managerial changes in the near future and for county to improve too. I will be surprised if cowden maintain there current position, but you never know with JN at the helm
So now to the Rovers. A wonderful start to the season and with the iminent return of Sparky to the squad we are looking strong all over the park.
If my assumption is correct and we do get 4 points from the next 2 games we will sit comfortably in 1st or 2nd on 21 points. A figure that if we maintained throughout the season would give us 84 points come next may. That will not be the case though because it would be a miracle if we did have that average of 21 points per quarter. However, i am going to up the anti here and say we could very easily average 15 points for the following 3 quarters giving us a total of 66 points which this season could well put us in the top 3 or even win the league.
Carry on playing and entertaining as we are and i would expect the gates to rise which i hope would allow the board to increase the player budget to allow the gaffer to sign permanently our loan signing and possibly bring in 1 or maybe even 2 more players possibly on a 6 month loan deal during the next transfer window
I suggest we can keep this momentum going to a large degree and that now our target has to be the mid 60's points and see where we are in relation to that come the end of the 3rd quarter.
At this time we are definately heading for a top 3 finish with the very real possibility of actually winning the league. _________________ now enjoying my fishing time, at peace with nature. but being a avid radio ham my global contacts have increased. any hams around call me lz2csk on 14200 or their aboyuts |

I believe that McGlynn set a target of 16 points for the 1st quarter so it's job done and more as far as that goes.
I would love us to win the title but for some inexplicable reason I just couldn't vote YES.
Meebes you should have added two more options:-
Mebbes Yes & Mebbes No |

Last season at this time we looked like genuine title contenders. Then our threadbare squad was depleted by injury and suspension. Therefore I'll wait till we are about 2 games away from winning the title before I would put money on us. Would be nice though, but I genuinely believe we are still far short of SPL requirements with our squad. If we did go up, it wouldn't do us any harm financially, as the extra income from the bigger crowds coupled with the parachute payment for relegation would see us being able to put a better sqaud together for a realistic chance of going up and staying up. To me it is still around 5 years away for that. _________________ No no no no ma wee laddie. |

For me no, I still think winter will have a big part to play in who the champions are. Our squad isn't really big enough to cope with injuries, suspensions and call offs. However if we get a decent bit of luck and stay clear of more long term fatalitys then I believe top four is achievable and would be an excellent season considering the budget of the teams below us and where we were just two years ago.
I think Dunfermline will ease to the title unfortunatly. _________________ Goal Count 10/11

Logic dictates Dunfermline should win the title easily, however it is important to remember their history in situations like this - they are notorious bottle-jobs, so hopefully that is the way it proves this year. I agree with all of what's been said before though, we don't have enough strength in depth to really cope with a winter similar to last year, and any major injuries/suspension we may pick up along the way. I really hope I am wrong though, but it possibly wouldn't be too bad if I was right. Another year or so in the first division would give us more time to build for a serious title push. |

Question for a headmaster. In history, how many dreams became reality. _________________ now enjoying my fishing time, at peace with nature. but being a avid radio ham my global contacts have increased. any hams around call me lz2csk on 14200 or their aboyuts |

So not a just teacher but a headmaster - and not just a Michael but a Marshall - hence that keenly honed sense of pun - and I thought I was such a good investigator.
Dream on - but seriously I dream we can win the title - why not at this stage? If I was a Jags man I could not have this dream now could I? But because we have a high statistical possibility of success it would not make sense to vote no at this stage given the numbers so far. A statistician could explain better but as the available number of points decreases each week those teams that accrue more points have a greater chance of winning. Seems daft to many of us but you can model this mathematically and that is how bookies calculate odds and make money from those of who guess. This is what the league exciting in that it is very difficult to predict who will win by guessing - until of course is beyond mathematical doubt. But for now - it is a bit of fun and I for one am close to 100% certain that we not only win the league but will do it with a record number of points and with a record number of goals for and a record number of goals against - with 6-5 score lines to us not uncommon throughout the season. Am I dreaming? _________________ we are the OUI team |

I suppose that is the catch question Marco. Personally, i think we are stronger in depth than we were last year all be it a small squad. Also the addition of the new fitness coach has to make a difference should re-arranged matches come into effect over or after the winter period.
I am fully aware that out of our squad of 30 11 players are jumiors waiting for a chance to prove themselves. No one can possibly say how they will perform when or if they get their opportunity. I cant see the manager including them in the squad unless he thought there was real potential in the lads. Its wrong that fans should blindly disregard these laddies until they are tried at this level.
Our squad is 30 players, young and old, so we must conclude we have a decent size squad capable of competing at this level. _________________ now enjoying my fishing time, at peace with nature. but being a avid radio ham my global contacts have increased. any hams around call me lz2csk on 14200 or their aboyuts |

We are due a break from the injuries we had last season, perhaps 3 years worth rolled into a single season! If we get the breaks then yes we are contenders.
Pars have done well bairns had to downsize dundee are in dire straits county should be in the mix come May and we are better than rest of the teams in the division.

Would certainly be an interesting season if it turns out to be a two horse race between us and the Townies. Would add even more spice to the derby games.
I don't think we're ready for the SPL but if it got to the point where we were, say, 2 wins away from being champions then naturally we'd have to go for it. I've not really noticed any team from this league that should frighten us. We're more than capable of keeping this run going assuming we can stay clear of injuries and suspensions. |
