Google maps suggest it is/was north of Loch Fitty.
Essentially the location of what was the open cast mining site on the left of the M90 just before the Kelty turn off. |
There you go.

I see Wolfie has given you the link I used.
Another useless fact was that a sister of my granny was an infants teacher in Lassodie during WW1 and her boyfriend, a miner, was one of the men killed in the war. She never married thereafter. I just wish I knew which of the names it was on the wee war memorial. There's no one left of that generation or the one after to now ask. _________________ Talk on! Talk on!

Would appreciate a photo or two as that's all that's left of life there.
Been there a couple of times way back with my dad as he told me the story and he's been dead for 26 years. It was always a story that fascinated me for some unknown reason. She ended up back home in Pittenweem and was infants mistress in St Monans under the 'headie' Jimmy Gourlay who of course founded our Supporters Club and was Chairman for many years as well as Provost of Kirkcaldy. _________________ Talk on! I don't know that, but my gran used to stay in Adamson Avenue and when we used to visit in the early 60's my brother an I used to play with a neighbour called Robert McFarlane who was supposed to be Sean Connery's nephew. My mum used to tell us that Sean used to come to visit them before I was able to remember. Not us, his relatives. |

Thanks for that link.
Much appreciated.
Still no further forward as to which man would have been the boyfriend but very highly likely it would have been one of the privates.
RealNotFizz that seems as if that would be true as the McLeans had a few offspring, two brothers (Sean Connery's uncles) of whom are on the war memorial, both losing their lives within a few months according to the Dunfermline Heritage Trust in article linked above. _________________ Talk on! To get things back on track, Kelty v Rovers should have them booking specials on the railway with fleets of supporter's buses travelling west! _________________ Talk on! Talk on!
