Ah thanks for that Embow! Genuinely interesting topic.
Now let's hope that:
1. Watt will not have any cause to play out that celebration at Starks on the 16th.
2. After the game, Watt will need to look to his chickens for some calm and serenity!
Hopefully our defence don't chicken out!

We did always think he’s a bit of a *bleep*, so that explains the hens. Now we’ll be looking to make him a roaster too. |

Now I know I can be prone to exaggeration. (Indeed Mrs HR has told me so 2 Million times!) However, I am most definitely NOT exaggerating when I say this Friday’s Game is by far the most important we have played this season. Why:
1. Confidence is way too low after less than mediocre recent performances, and a win would certainly go a long way in arresting team confidence which has gone into a tail spinning freefall. What a boost a win would bring us. Especially against top of the league Arabs. This game is what the saying, “Six pointer” was invented for. Win this, and we are within one point of Dundee United. Lose, and we slip seven points behind!
2. If we were to lose on Friday and Partick were to win, then they would come within four points of us. Partick would also know what they need to do before they even set foot on the Pitch against Inverness. Now I know this will not be a walk in the park for them. Inverness are putting in some really good performances of late, however we should not be giving them that added incentive by staying stationary on the league table.
3. Morton are very much in-form and although they are currently twelve points behind, if they can beat Queen’s Park on Saturday they are reeling us in at nine points behind. I know nine points is a lot, but we simply cannot allow these comfortable gaps to the teams below us to creep up and undo all the earlier season’s good work!
IM has had two weeks to steady the team, bed in the new full back, and allow recovering players coming back from injury a wee bit extra fitness time. I do hope he has found the formula which allows the lads to rediscover the magic of these earlier performances?
I doubt however he has been able to copy the late, great, Jock Stein’s training methods for week-day evening games, where he would change training times to suit the game’s start time. i.e. He started evening training sessions instead of through the day so that the team were used to running around later in the day so as to coincide with the game itself. Something to do with our internal clocks apparently? However, our need to hire out our pitch for the community in the evening would scupper that potential plan should IM have wanted to adopt it.
We really NEED a win guys. PLEASE

We were training on Sunday just there though. Maybe in lieu of being off on Saturday. |

Heck of a lot of speculation and rumour on the other channel about alleged disruption of squad morale in recent weeks ( you can all read it for ourselves ).
Seems to have arisen from nothing more than The Rovers signing another RB, a lack of cover for that position having been a talking point all season! |

We should have the greater motivation to win on Friday. Yes, United will see it as a game which could kill off our challenge but it's not the end of world for them if they fail to beat us.
We need to win, realistically, so should be aiming to win every 50/50, to win each individual battle against our direct opponent.
Much as I'd like to see a midfield of Brown, Stanton and Matthews ,we all know that won't be the line-up ,so I hope Byrne and Brown are inspired by Sam Stanton to recover their form .
Lewis Vaughan will be up for this one ,for sure, and I'm quite optimistic re his growing partnership with Jack Hamilton.
The defence has a fortnight of drilling behind them, so Friday would be a good time to have a clean sheet, or, if that's too much to hope for ,only concede once.
The Rovers to win and reignite the promotion race. |
