Since you all knew this was coming, it wont be a surprise and you will already be arguing who you think Raiths Best keeper(s) is..............?
Yes, yes I know everyones entitled to their opinion, but Fahey cost us that game against Airdrie and reminded us how crap a keeper he is.
That may seem harsh, but I don't do Grey only Black nWhite.
A keepers vitues?
1. Cat like reflexes
2. Commands his area, (6yrd and 18 yrd)
3. Kicks the ball out past the half way line
4. Knows when to throw the ball out or kick it upfield
5. Shouts instructions to his team and in the main his defenders
6. Yep you knew it was coming?, plucks high balls out of the air like every good keeper should.
Right now that I've got that out of my system
Pick who you think is Raith best keeper.
I know this is difficult as some can go back to the 1st World War(Tam/Jim Foy, John and Eric Drysdale), whilst other are still primary 6..
But hey , you pays yer money!
GO!
Blue
PS Any I have missed is purely down to age and lack of Raith Lgen Knowledge to which I humbly apologise in advance _________________ Contact TAM or BlueITagain tamrover@googlemail.com or paulrover1883@googlemail.com

Theres always one? , yes I've missed out Guido Van de Kamp, briiliant penalty shot stopper, but winding down in regards to his footie career.
Ach look the poll only lets you choose 10, all the 2 old keepers from our two cup finals probably have a right to be in the top ten, but you guys wouldn't know who they are anyway.
Which is something I hope a certain Ally "Ging" Gourlay will rectify?
Raith Rovers Historic education, maybe Fife College should do an HND in that?
Worth its weight in Gold?
Arrrrr..............

I voted for Scott Thomson, but my best single moment has to be the fairy-tale ending to the semi-final of our cup winning run - the save by Brian Potter that got us through! |

I'd have gone for Bobby Reid as well, for his lack of height he made up for in courage. I remember the headline after a match at Parkhead
"When does a goalkeeper wear number 5" ?
Answer - When he is sent off !! He was sent off and of course there were no such thing in those days as sub keepers so he took his jersey off to give to our replacement keeper(outfield player) and he was wearing a reserve strip with number 5 on the back. |

Sorry about that guys, good to see there's so many OAP's on this website though!
Before my time I'm afraid, thats the trouble with Raith Rovers as it stands, no education for the young supporters coming through or those in attendance.
More needs to be done to portray the past?
Thats obvious from all the postings and remarks over the years.
Anyway, Sport Bobby's no there, so git over it and vote for who is there?
Auld folk?, don't ye jist love em!

What an eejit should have done your homework old fella.... tsk tsk tsk, call yourself a Rovers fan.
Poll is a bit of a mess now.
Scott Thompson for me but Murray was a close second. Jim Thorburn and Cat Drummond were excellent as well so my dad said. |

Yup !!
Jim Thorburn for me followed by Bobby Reid. In third place it's a toss up between Charlie Drummond and Scotty Thomson. _________________ Talk on! Talk on!

Has to be Murray, followed by Scott Thomson even though never caught a cross in his time at Raith, but purely for one save and an amazing display in Iceland.
With notable mentions for Gordon Arthur and Raul Ojeda. |

Did Tommy Walker play for us in the 80's or am i thinking of someone
For some reason i have it in my head that he did and he also scored a couple of goals for us
Not 100% on this, but think one of our keepers scored at Rugby Park from a massive clearance. I'm sure someone will correct me if i'm wrong .
Has to be Murray for me as he never let the side down. |
