Would you rather get the result you want in the referendum, but Rovers have a fallow 20 seasons, or you don't get the result you want in the referendum, but Rovers enjoy 20 years of success? |

It matters not one jot what age anyone who voted which way is. This is a democratic process and the referendum was lost because Salmond failed to deliver an agenda that made sense to 55% of the voting public.
I wouldn't expect a 16 year old to know a hell of a lot about economics or the issues surrounding a currency union but their vote is one vote the same as anyone else's and I wouldn't criticise them for voting either way.
Similarly I wouldn't expect people who know little about the oil and gas industry to question the SNP wisdom of financing independence on the price of a barrel of crude oil.
People on both sides made their vote based on the facts and their understanding of the facts put before them. That is democracy.
To then throw the toys out the pram and have a go at anyone that did not vote the same way as anyone else's preference is quite frankly pathetic. |

Zico I echo your sentiments as I too am 62 and voted yes and canvassed others to do the same, and am proud to say that the majority in my electoral area ie West Dunbartonshire voted Yes.Pity others let us down. |

From my experience of working with young people many of them a lot more about economics than some of the older people I've met who voted 'no' because:
They like the Queen more than Alex Salmond ('he's too clever')
They're worried 'Eastenders' might disappear from their TV screens
Archie McPherson, Bruce Forsyth and George Galloway have told them it's a good idea
They were 'Born under a Union Flag' (as sung joyously at Starks Park a week ago)
They think that extra tax raising powers will mean more money for us if we choose to use them (ignoring the fact that it will be deducted from the following year's block grant, meaning less household income per person, and same money coming in to the country). How's that for economics? |

Hear Hear, I find it repulsive to say the least that admin have allowed carte blanche to some fantalk members to openly abuse other Rovers fans, on this forum, because of their democratic choice.
If this had been about Teamtalk and Transfers or Mediawatch etc the red sensor would have been out very quickly, yet on this "any other business" which has the subtitle "The place to discuss anything other than football, but Politics are banned" is seems it is deemed acceptable for specky4eyes to use the word Scum, to describe Rovers fans, and zicoromaines to continually carry on a vendetta against another forum member because his views differ from theirs.
We even have one fan who felt he just had to join the forum, only to comment on this subject, and feels he has the power to ban other fans from Stark's Park.
This used to be a forum I regularly read to get up to date information on Rovers, but now it just seems to be excuse after excuse to give abuse to those who's opinions differ, do we really need this topic to carry on ?
Yep my head's above the parapet, give it your best shot !! |

If referring to me, I think you'll find I joined in April (not just to talk about the referendum), but if someone posts a topic about the referendum and a prominent 'player' in it is also a prominent Raith fan then it's fair game for reply in my opinion.
You may be smiling now, but as the three amigos' pledge unravels, and the new Tory/UKIP alliance wins in Westminster, we'll all be suffering, particularly the less advantaged. Football isn't more important than life, it's the other way round, and when the BBC pay lip-service to balanced journalism it's places like this that end up being outlets for those of us who can see through the 'no' lies. |

(Straight choice our own country or continue with a corrupt Westminster)

(They know more than the scardey cat oldies, who are only interested in short termism, when in 20 years they wont be here)
Similarly I wouldn't expect people who know little about the oil and gas industry to question the SNP wisdom of financing independence on the price of a barrel of crude oil. (It was to be financed on our economy, lots of different areas, your ignorance of the argument is shining through)
People on both sides made their vote based on the facts and their understanding of the facts put before them. That is democracy. (People voted for there own self interest and the Armageddon policy of the nae sayers, not facts as you state but maybes, ifs and buts, I'm all right Jack to hell with everbody else)

| This sadly shows the ignorance of the majority of Scotland, a sad day and a chance never to be repeated in my lifetime, lies and scaremongering by the establishment, bought hook line and sinker by small minds. _________________ We dont need no stinking badges |

Crikey I think thought politics wasn't to be discussed on fantalk? Probably better to just close this thread, it's over. Almost half voted for Scotland to be a nation( the independent bit of the question was nonsense, a nation doesn't exist if it's not independent) , a wee bit more preferred for it to continue to be a semi autonomous region. Yessers can't complain as that's democracy in action, no supporters can't complain about the inevitable Scotland only tax rises to make up for the Barnett formula being axed. _________________ Fantalk~Often wrong but never in doubt |

Sorry I started the poll in the first place.
It was only meant to be a poll on whether people thought the referendum result was more important to them than the Rovers.
Some people need to get a grip - you'd think the people they're castigating had done something serious like support the Pars in a play-off final rather than exercising their right to vote in a certain way. _________________ Dougie Hill
