Brilliant goal by Mackay and great build up with Nade but in honesty we could and should have been three down by then.
The boys stuck to it and I thought we bossed the early part of the second half. I felt the game was crying out for fresh legs. Stubbs had made two changes and in the time that our management team deliberated over the obvious change to be made we went from being in the game to two goals down. After that the substitution was pointless.
This was a free game for Murray after the boards statement and the fact that a defeat to Hibs is never going to be a deal breaker re the managers position.
For 60 minutes I thought he called everything correct. But the failure to at least try something with use of the subs at 1-1 was a major failing. |
Spot on NR. Thought we played well for long spells. Murray must learn to make substitutions when we are on top as we were at 1-1, most could see the players were tiring at that time. Our defence was poor today with no communication whatsoever apart from Watson and Hill's frequent arguments. Need Barr in there pronto. Would have thought giving him last 20 minutes today would have benefitted him? _________________ Championship Winners 2023-24 |

Watson has gone from being our best defender to an absolute liability. To make things worse he points the finger at everyone else when he's the one at fault. If the season ended tomorrow I would be handing him a one way ticket out of Kirkcaldy. _________________ If I were a fighter I'd probably kick your ass. |

From box to box the performance was certainly more spirited today, but we didn't carve out much by way of clear cut chances.
Teams who lose 3 goals as easily as we did today are always going to struggle and had Hibs not been so wasteful in front of goal in the first half, it could have been another rout.
At the start of the season a 1-3 at home to Hibs probably wouldn't have raised too many eyebrows, but another 3 goals shipped on top of the 5 at home to Livi, the 4 at home to QOS, the 4 at home to the Huns, the 6 at Ibrox and the 4 at home to Hearts, and it's plain to see where our problems lie.
However, the management seem further away from finding a solution than ever. I can't say I've been McKeown's biggest fan since he signed, but I felt sorry for him today as time and time again he was left exposed with both the winger and full back bearing down on him, while getting no protection from his own players. _________________ Dougie Hill

Communication absolute Basic,
When Hill punted it out for a corner to hibs in the first half Watson could see he had time but was silent and should have "Communicated" that to him, very poor.
if Cowdenbeath win there next game against Dumbarton and we lose to Falkirk they will be 1 point behind us going into the Jan 3rd game
Play offs are looming _________________ I feed the pigeons I sometimes feed the sparrows too |

The goals we conceded don't look any less poor on 2nd viewing. McGurn should do better at the 1st, but the space afforded to Malonga in the build up was frightening. McGurn more than redeemed himself throughout the rest of the game and was right to be furious with the marking at the 2nd, while only Martin Scott will know what he was doing fannying about on the edge of his own box at the 3rd. _________________ Dougie Hill

Shocking when you consider Dalziel managed 3 between October and May with Anelka's team of duds. And Dalziel managed a few draws against superior opposition at home that season as well. _________________ Dougie Hill

Well from where I was sitting you could hear Watson shout "time" to Dougie as did McGurn |
