It looked like the kind of thing that the Primary 3s from Scabbyview Primary School would make for their fete.
You couldn't read the writing on the side. It was bemusing to say the least. _________________ Dougie Hill

It was a train with Dunfermline Athletic written on the side that choo chooed down the bottom of the stand stopping at a sign that said 'Dunfermline City'. Think the Townie jibe is getting to them |

It was weird Wull, it featured some sort of high speed train that would never have passed through any of their stations on the Fife circle.
They are an odd bunch indeed.
Dunfermline Athletic is plausible enough, and they are a team from "The auld grey toun" yet they have long claimed city status. They have a nickname (The Pars) which nobody seems to know the true origin or reason for, and to compound their confusion on the front of their main stand there's a sign saying Pars United.
So, Athletic, Town, City or United who are they?
I can only think they are suffering from some sort of identity crisis.
One thing we can say for sure, they are Fife's second club! _________________ Competitive goals: Vaughan 19, Easton 11, Hamilton 10, Smith 9, Stanton 7, Mullin 4, Connolly 3, O'Reilly 3, Rudden 3, S Brown 2, Dick 1, Gullan 1, Masson 1, Matthews 1, Millen 1, Mitchell 1, Murray, Watson 1, OG's 1, |

The 'toun' is a direct reference to first lines in the ballad of Sir Patrick Spens.
Historical from days past.
Present day? Mair likely to be histerical ....... (if you question the city guff).
Population really not large enough for city status. No cathedral like Brechin, Elgin or even Dornoch for the ecclesiastical city status.
I'm also quite happy to question the status of Stirling and Inverness on these criteria, although there's a cathedral of sorts in Inverness.
Rant over! 🫣 _________________ Talk on! Talk on!
