Tricky one as Airdrie have won both their home games so far. Hoping for a win but would take a draw. _________________ Two pints prick |

Still - no longer the formidable team that ripped Falkirk to pieces in the play-offs. |

3 of the next 4 games are away and Dundee Utd. is the one home fixture. Tough end to the first quarter of the season. |

We are top of the league on merit, grinding out results without clicking 100%. These guys should fear no one. If we continue to show the same determination and application as the last few weeks then the next few games will provide us with lots more points. |

I agree, we are not firing on all cylinders yet, but yet we are churning out results. IMO you can attribute this down to two main things, a great team spirit and more importantly confidence.
Confidence breeds confidence, also a winning side seems to garner less injuries, which has been our Achilleas heel of late.
I've lost count over the years how many times a relatively unfancied side has won (or nearly won) the league because they went on a good wee run at some point (usually early) in the season.

Hope the management and players don’t share your ‘semi’ defeatist attitude.
Surely given the run we are on, the fact Airdrie are still finding their feet in higher division (conceding 10 goals already) then we should be taking this by the scuff of the neck.
Sure, a point come teatime Saturday may well turn out to have been a “good” one but Jesus, let the game pan out 1st before settling for one in what is a very winnable fixture! |

I am a born pessimist.
I prefer to expect little rather than expect much only to be continually disappointed.
Really pleased with where the Team and club are atm, but I am taking nothing for granted.
History tells us there are no easy games and just as so far we have had some decent breaks, it isn’t always gonna be the same story.
Any player that steps onto a pitch thinking the opposition are gonna roll over is a mug.
Our keeper kept us in the game last week with 4 really good saves, we hardly worked their keeper at all.
The fact we got the three points doesn’t cover up how poorly we defended.
Hope for the best.......yes.......expect the best, NO........You have to work hard for that, and earn it. _________________ Born a Rover Live a Rover Die a Rover |

Yet another test on Saturday, and although we are still playing on Astra turf, we are nevertheless playing away from home. We will have our work cut out for us, but in this league that's pretty much always the case for all teams. However we have shown so much resilience and determination in recent weeks, I genuinely think we can take something from the game. Hopefully all three points.
I would just like to add that I personally didn't take the comments of WellyBoot or Cuparman in any way negative. Simply pragmatic fans who have no doubt, through many years of experience and having seen it all before, have had their expectations trained into thinking that realistic, alternative outcomes are a possibility. It is in no way negative to point out last week's victory was down to some remarkable Goalkeeping by Kevin, and that we were less than sharp up front for much of the game. These are simply facts!
Cuparman makes a valid point in that: like respect, expected good performance has to be earned.

Our performance last week was easily forgettable, thankfully some time down the road it will simply read as the day we finally defeated Inverness after years of frustration and often pain!
Our biggest issue in general last week for me was the lack of intensity, almost going through the motions waiting for something to happen as opposed to imposing ourselves on our opponents.
We have a very good squad for this division, we are doing okay on the injury front but let’s get players’ in their preferred positions, raise the tempo that slight notch and with everyone fighting for the cause we are in for a very good season.
Every away trip this season is ‘difficult’ but at the same time, being happy to accept a point before a ball is kicked in pretty much any of the games is mental and yes, defeatist! |

Actually a really good point. The previous two away league matches were on grass, and our last plastic match not at Stark’s Park was 29/7 vs Annan. Every plastic pitch plays a bit different, so we’ll see. |

For me we miss the creativity of Easton when he has been on the bench. His vision and skill are a must if we want goals _________________ Two pints prick |

For me Easton does his best work when given time and space and he invariably finds both of those commodities later in games when oppositions begin to tire after being given the runaround by others making them put in a shift.
Got to be looking and expecting to take full points tomorrow. Things are maybe starting to click now for Ayr, who I didn't think deserve to be spanked by Partick last Friday, and we play them at Somerset next weekend. The following week it's Dundee Utd. If we get beat tomorrow it would be incredibly disappointing but not incredibly unlikely that we could go three games without picking up a point. _________________ Fantalk~Often wrong but never in doubt |

On paper this should be an away win for us. However from what I've heard we were far from convincing last week against ICT add this to the we're tagged as the favourites and even though on a good run all runs come to an end, It's the Rovers we could be in for a fall.
3 straight league wins on the bounce and 4 in all competitions may not be be virgin territory for all of us but it will be for a lot of Rovers fans. I'll admit it's a stat that makes me a tad nervous.
Our form has been outstanding so far this term even if we aren't convincing in all games. We've drawn and lost by the odd goal to 2 Premier League teams, lost only on pens to the Pars and taken 13 from a possible 15 in the league. On scrutiny all of the wins came by a single goal margin. All grist to the mill for if not tempering our aspirations then at least keeping our feet on the ground.
Confidence is key, another win and we roll on gathering confidence, a defeat though and we may wobble. As Davie and the manager pointed out we're managing to turn draws into wins for now but if our luck turns a bit.....
I see another tight game so either a draw or Rovers by a goal, I can't see Airdrie beating us. I hope I'm wrong on the former and right on the latter. Hopefully today will be the day that everything clicks and we really turn them over and not the day where the wheels fall off. _________________ Competitive goals: Vaughan 19, Easton 11, Hamilton 10, Smith 9, Stanton 7, Mullin 4, Connolly 3, O'Reilly 3, Rudden 3, S Brown 2, Dick 1, Gullan 1, Masson 1, Matthews 1, Millen 1, Mitchell 1, Murray, Watson 1, OG's 1, |
