I was so disappointed today.
Good comments above, especially Cuparman and Calderon.
While the side can go off the boil its the basics we cannot do right:
Head Tennis!!! when it should be easier for the defender to control the ball???
Defenders, who stand away from the attacker and worse don't tackle!!!
Crossing the ball into our forwards, too wayward, too far, just awful.
Defenders who pass the ball amongst the defenders and NO advancement made up the pitch.
Throw ins,... pathetic, to slow.
Lack of coaching from the coaches????
The list goes on.
Yes we are top of the league and we have played some great exciting football but...,see above. |

I’m forced to conclude Matthews isn’t actually ready yet. O’Reilly should be extended immediately, as he showed his value today as a capable CB with Watson’s condition unknown and Murray perhaps nicked again. The 4-1-3-2 experiment should be taken out the back of the Railway Stand and have a bullet put through its head. Scoring, the bonus of the 2 forwards, isn’t offsetting the goals given up due to a single DM not working to close down opponents off the CB’s. 4-2-3-1 or just a plain old 4-3-3 suits us better.
Now I’m off to bed, the morning is coming too early! |

I don't think for one minute that the players will not have been trying their best, irrespective of the outcome of the match or how they perform on the day. Sometimes it just doesn't happen on the day. George Farm way back always said that you could carry up to three not on their game. Any more and you struggle to get a result of any kind. |
I was meaning some of the players maybe miffed about not being offered anything yet, has to be some reason for these last few games , the Arabs apart |

More worryingly is what happens if/when the goals scored dry up if we still cant defend from midfield to defenders |

Is your bunnet too tight?
Matthews has been available for the last 5 games and would have been a shoe in along side Brown, having seen him over the years I have no doubt the defence would have be shored up today and we would have had full points if he were brought on. _________________ Hope he's got plenty Rovers action to comment on tonight.... |

I'm not really into the doom and gloom. We are sitting top of the league at the start of 2024, a league that no one either outside or inside starks park really expected us to be leading. I'm sure our goal was to make the playoffs.
Let's enjoy what we are doing both on and off the park. Our games must be some of the most exciting in the country just now for a neutral. We will get through this, however may take a few weeks. By that I mean get through the transfer window and know who we have for the rest of this amazing campaign. |

Our team isn't perfect but it has something special and a disappointing result like today doesn't change that.
Plenty of folk are buying into The Rovers this season. A gate of over 3600 for this fixture last season? Nothing close to it.
Lastly, did Jack Hamilton's curly hair score Raith's second? If I was Aidan Connolly, I'd be having a close look at the Raith TV highlights. |
Just seen the highlights. It’s clearly Hamilton’s goal
And what a turn and hit from the reserve keeper. Absolute belter of a goal _________________ Two pints prick |

Highlights up on Facebook.
That's some strike from the sub keeper
Kev just a fraction too far off his line but take nothing away from the goalscorer. He'd not do that again out of another 99 attempts.
We wasted a lot of chances (especially early on ) despite scoring two.
Jack Hamilton didn't look too happy at either of the goals. Was he playing things down because it was against Arbroath? _________________ Talk on! Talk on!

Manager was spot on with assessment that the last 20mins today was embarrassing.
The team have deservedly received plaudits left right and centre all season so it’s right they hear some criticism for that shambles today! ….was hoping the defending (or lack of) v Ayr and conceding all those goals v 10 men was going to give them that extra kick up the backside and see them buckle down again but we just got more of the same today, 2nd half especially but the warning were there once or twice 1st half too.
Soon as you start believing the hype, believing you are better than you are and feel you don’t need to put in the maximum effort?… asking for trouble.
What is the saying? Hard work beats talent when talent isn’t working hard enough. |

I was unable to watch live today so, made do with commentary from Raith TV. I heard Robbie Savage & Chris Sutton pass judgement on the ‘keepers goal without having seen it and Sutton, questioned big Kev’s positioning on 606 on Radio 5 Live. Having seen it myself now, it was an absolute ‘Worldy’ which many a ‘keeper would’ve been beaten by!
Disappointed in the result today but, let’s have some perspective; if told at the beginning of the Season that we would ‘see in’ the New Year 3 points clear at the top of the Championship - despite Utd’s game in hand - would we have ‘taken it’? Absolutely we would so, quit moaning and continue to support our Manager and this incredible group of players!! |

“Available” and “ready” are different animals. He’s been out a very extended time, and I would have expected him to be deployed if he was ready yesterday. He was not, so what do you make of that managers decision? Clearly either IM doesn’t rate Matthews or he hasn’t looked up to it in practice.
Now, as for my bunnet…as we all get older, things get tighter…at least clothing.

Well done to Ian Murray and the team to get us to where we are.
In a way yesterday's setback comes at a good time. It brings to light our shaky defence and our (actually ridiculous) number of goals conceded before the Transfer Window. If we had sneaked an injury-time winner again, this might well have been overlooked - as maybe it has been, up to now. I would rather have an unlucky draw than a string of deserved defeats later on.
Respect to IM for his honesty re the reserve keeper's goal - "embarrassing!" How many of our previous managers would just shrug that off as something that could never have been anticipated?
So - two poor performances and two points from two "easy" home games (better than none!) Two very hard games coming up - away to our rivals and away to our new bogey team. Keep two clean sheets, get two wins and nobody will be talking about yesterday's events. |
