I got carried away there, but I take your pointRZ.
Something has to be done to halt the downward spiral. _________________ He's no' hairy mary he's the Rovers' little fairy!

After these two teams of yours have finished knocking seven bells out of each other IM might have to field the eleven players still standing! |
Survival of the fittest Franco, maybe that's what we need?
@pinky - no bad thing I think, I remember watching Dalziel in a reserve match at Dens many, many moons ago. It was a strange atmosphere, about 100 or so in the main stand and no one else and yes, you could pretty much hear every word from the pitch.
I think the lads IM has brought in has perhaps disrupted the harmony a little bit, apart from Hamilton (who I think could do well for us) the performances have deteriorated for me and there just doesn't seem to be the same fight out there. The lads he has brought in, yes okay, they are professional footballers but, do they really have the hunger and desire of the guys who are contracted to the club, I'm not sure!
Tactics and guys out of position aren't helping either, as I said previously, get back to basics and pick a system the suits the players available rather than shoehorning them into positions they are not comfortable with.
Hamilton and Vaughan need to be playing closer together too, IMHO. _________________ http://www.helpforheroes.org.uk/ |

Good summation RZ.
1 win could well turn the season back on track.
Players have to stand up though.
IMO we are being out fought and out thought. _________________ Born a Rover Live a Rover Die a Rover |

If it's battling qualities you are looking for then Ross Matthews is an obvious pick.
IM had taken against him before he got the job at SP, one reason was his ordering off against Airdrie. Raith fans wanted Rossco to be Captain and IM ,very neatly,I thought, got round that by appointing him as Club Captain but his own man Scott Brown as Team Captain. ( Incidentally, playing in midfield, SB has made a fine Team Captain).
Rossco won't be in IM's plans for next season ,so IM not intending to give him a chance to renew his favoured place with the fans. |

I fear that Franco has the gist of it.
Brown is a decent midfielder and is as strong as they come, however I still think Rossco is the better footballer of the two. _________________ Competitive goals: Vaughan 19, Easton 11, Hamilton 10, Smith 9, Stanton 7, Mullin 4, Connolly 3, O'Reilly 3, Rudden 3, S Brown 2, Dick 1, Gullan 1, Masson 1, Matthews 1, Millen 1, Mitchell 1, Murray, Watson 1, OG's 1, |

I thought exactly that watching the Airdrie game, we got bullied all over the pitch and did not win the physical battles. _________________ http://www.helpforheroes.org.uk/ |

There might be some underlying issue with Rossco that we are unaware of. If not, sadly, Franco's appraisal seems to fit better than any other explaination. IM certainly does not come across as bitter or obstinate in his interviews, but off camera, it might be different. The signing of two attacking players seems baffling, when signing a single defender could have strengthened the defence and the midfield, by releasing Brown back to his natural position. Barrowman (and IM) talk of a good squad. Fair enough, but when we lose every game, under-15s would likely get the same overall result. IM himself is beginning to come under scrutiny, with this "you get bad spells in football" line getting less relevant by the week. If Rossco IS fully fit, then what would IM have to lose by giving him a fair chance?
Barrowman also alludes to being open to loan players. Damage limitation at this point in time - or just biding time for the right fit? |

I didn't mention it in my previous post, Neil, but I have another reason for thinking IM is prejudiced against Rossco. I don't know if you remember what IM said after he signed Scott Brown and Dylan Easton very early in his Rovers' career? It was along the lines of " if the existing midfielders find game time limited they can speak to me about it" with the inference that they might find themselves out on loan or being moved on. Of course, every new manager wants to bring in new players they like, but IM said this before working with the existing squad, which had a fair number of midfielders.
On the question of who would be Captain , the sole owner at the time, John Sim, was ( probably still is) a big fan of Rossco, not just for his qualities as a player but also because of his loyalty to the Club (in contrast, said John Sim to e.g. Dan Armstrong) . I suspect that ,in his discussions with John Sim, IM would have become aware of John Sims' liking for Rossco.
Maybe there is an undisclosed ,underlying fitness issue with Ross Matthews, but, sadly, I doubt that not why he is not getting his chance to boost our midfield. |

Rossco has never let us down. I'd be gutted if he left us. |

We will likely not know what really happened until Matthews or IM leaves the team. Ross is too much a leader/professional to complain about what is really going on if any of the “not a preferred player” rumours are true. To be fair, IM is similar in this realm. |

Yeah, what ever happened to him? We never hear from Sim anymore, is he just happy for Barrowman to do all the media stuff now? _________________ http://www.helpforheroes.org.uk/ |

Does Sim still have some involvement with the club? |

Did he not relinquish the club after the consortium started.
I think he still owns the ground through Starks Park properties though. |

John Sim is still the biggest single shareholder at the club, but with the new issued share capital last summer, he no longer has a majority share. _________________ Dougie Hill
