i know this league is tighter than a scotsmans wallet but if we beat du on the 30th then we will win this league. as marvin said BELIEVE _________________ now enjoying my fishing time, at peace with nature. but being a avid radio ham my global contacts have increased. any hams around call me lz2csk on 14200 or their aboyuts |

Ergo the league must actually be a yorkshireman's wallet, 'em being substantially tighter than us Scots. _________________ Competitive goals: Vaughan 19, Easton 11, Hamilton 10, Smith 9, Stanton 7, Mullin 4, Connolly 3, O'Reilly 3, Rudden 3, S Brown 2, Dick 1, Gullan 1, Masson 1, Matthews 1, Millen 1, Mitchell 1, Murray, Watson 1, OG's 1, |

That's now 16 wins by one goal in the season. That ties us for the most by a team in a 36 match season...Berwick 2006/2007. There are two Celtic sixteen's in a 44 game season, a Celtic eighteen in a 38 game season, and Hearts 1991/1992 nineteen in a 44 game season.
Percentage wise, we'll be hard pressed to match the highest percentage won buy one goal, as just one more win by two or more will put that out of reach. As for percentage of total games won by one goal, we're at 44.44% right now (16 of 36), and can only go up. As it sits, we're tied with that Berwick side, and only trail the 2006/2007 Celtic side that won 18 of 38 for a 47.4% rate. If we win two more, to get to 50%, we'll own that too. |

Hamilton could have had us home and hosed with alot less stress passing up two glorious opportunities that you would expect a confident and in form striker to score.
Surprised again to see both of Vaughan and Rudden dropping to the bench.
Would also liked to have had Byrne in there but with Mullen unavailable I guess Turner was in to provide set plays and cross balls.
We've been critical of the defence this season but that was a hell of a shift last night. Got a break in the final seconds with the header off the post but as Doolan pointed out it was us that reacted to clear when the ball broke.
A great result and keeping us hanging in there. |

Just a pity we don’t have a game on 23rd, as even if we beat QP then win at Tannadice we’ll still probably be second, albeit with a game in hand, assuming DU win both of their other games beforehand. |

Aye. Great result, and let's face it, when we have won a game, it's the points and not the performance that matter!
On the subject of performance we really must congratulate our defensive achievement last night. Shut out says it all. That pitch was awful as was apparent when the ball bobbled just as their keeper kicked to clear and gave Hamilton one of his two chances to score. This pitch induced bobbling ball syndrome may have also been the reason we gave the ball away on so many occasions? Isn't it amazing the inept powers that be in Scottish football want to force us all to play on these surfaces that can resemble a potato field at this time of year, instead of the steady flat pitch that (good) artificial surfaces deliver?
For the avoidance of doubt by the way, I really think Hamilton ought to have scored on both the fairly easy chances he had last night. This would have helped my already failing heart to give me a more comfortable 90 minutes. A sentiment no doubt shared by some of the other "aulder codger" posters on here?
COYR and come on ye Pars on Friday night!!
I can't believe I have just said that, and meant it |

I think it was good squad management to be honest, Hampden is a huge pitch and their energy and movement will serve is better there than the coo patch they had last night, and as IM said in his interview, Rudden was ill over the weekend.
Actually thought the tactics were spot on last night, game management was much improved from, for example, Gayfield. I actually think we are better at taking a one goal lead and defending for our lives than going two up and thinking the game is won.
My only complaint is that I think Smith has more pace than Hamilton and if we are going to play one up front, I think he would be the guy to trouble defences more. _________________ http://www.helpforheroes.org.uk/ |

Ergo the league must actually be a yorkshireman's wallet, 'em being substantially tighter than us Scots. |
Where does that leave me, born in Yorkshire to a Scot? I guess I need the jaws of life to open mine. |

I was born in the East Riding. We like to take the wallet out to get some air once a summer, but we don’t undo the strap. |
