I noticed on the other channel that Tx Rover has already written off the season. Some of us don't see things that way, far from it . Being out of the Cup is not good financially but is one less distraction and one less chance to pick up injuries. |
Really, I’ve written off the season? That’s news to me. I’m of the opinion that we have to make some careful decisions to position ourselves for likely playoffs and next season. I’m concerned that we have been running with a significant hole(s) in the squad due to IM’s apparent belief at least one or two of our CB’s are not capable of playing at this level, while we haven’t done anything to address that matter beyond a month and a bit signing for December. We’ve also apparently decided that utility players can replace proper FB’s for depth on this squad. The problem with this is that it can place us in situations like yesterday where we’re playing people out of position and it shows as the other team takes advantage as they pull us out of shape.
I also standby the statement we didn’t deserve to win yesterday. Livi played better than us yesterday. Their passing, crossing and shooting in the final third had a quality ours lacked, and I’m not entirely certain why, because earlier this year we would have matched them. To a certain extent some of our players seem to be trying too hard to live up to how we played earlier rather than playing with some of the freedom and “take what is given” style we used earlier.
That’s pretty far from writing off a season. |

OK, Tx, on reading your entry on the other channel, perhaps I'm did read too much into your comment : " This season is threatening to crumble like a McGlynn second half of season".
Just it seemed pretty defeatist to me!
We are always commenting that if we all saw games the same way there would be no threads like this. To me Livi were over physical and light on the quality one would expect from a Premiership team. On balance of chances created, we should have beaten them. Even their first goal seemed to come with a slice of luck. I thought the shot was missing the target until it clipped Scott Brown. Not sure the highlights provide much evidence of that but I await Inside Matchday video which may have another angle. |

That’s more note that we gotta fix this…plus a reference to Falkirk’s glorious win, er, wait…really, nevermimd…
I saw Livi as much better passing than us in the final third, perhaps a reflection on what we lost with Stanton. We did decent long, connecting passes, but the short triangles were absent. Our finishing and close in decision making was, well, dubious.
Looking at the match replay, I can’t see that shot as initially off target, but as you say, the angle isn’t conducive to judgement. |

I wasn't at the game, but the scoreline, at least, played out like a carbon copy of the Queens Park game the week before. We grab a very early goal, we don't score a second, the (inevitable) equaliser comes, then we go 2 down and it stays that way.
Baffling that IM would have three defenders on the bench and not one on the pitch. Not exactly a strategy that worked. |

I fear that will influence the loan opportunities. It’s obvious IM considers Murray and Watson has starting CB’s, and rates Brown at CB above anyone else. With both Murray and Watson touted as being almost ready, a loaner who needs playing time would be poorly served at the Rovers, at least in the minds of their home team. As a Rovers fan we all know one of those two seems likely to miss each week. |

Exactly this and even Martindale said “if Raith had taken their chances early doors they,d have been out of sight”
Get the impression when we get beat some seem to focus soley on the negatives and when we win they still seem to focus on any negatives
