Whilst I am not in the first flushes of youth which may account for memory issues but in 50 years of following the Rovers,
I struggle to recall such a goal and such a save.
I have no more words |
Possibly the late Ronnie Coyle's effort against St Mirren in the 7-1 howking on the first day of the 92-93 season ? That's about it as far as I can recall. |
Grant Murray against the Townies. |
Oh my goodness!😲 How could I have forgotten that one? 🥺 |

Aaaah! I feel a deep satisfying sigh coming on watching that again 🥹 Bert's goal very similar to last night's but for as good as it was, Broonie's was better 🥰 _________________ Talk on! Talk on!

On a side note, I seen Ross Millen mulling around outside Main Stand at full time in full Rovers’ attire.
Goodwin is a class A bawbag when things aren’t going right, was similar as a player, very short fuse! |

I indulged in a bit of schadenfreude last night as the Dundee United directors and guests walked behind the Titan, the looks on their faces would have turned milk. _________________ Hope he's got plenty Rovers action to comment on tonight.... |

Great victory last night ! Some atmosphere ( tho not altogether originating from the Singing Section, interestingly ).
Fantastic victory for the SQUAD. Last season, after the first one or two substitutions were made ,subsequent subs noticeably weakened the team on the park. Not this season and certainly not last night.
It's now a case of avoiding anti climax at Ayr next Saturday and I think the boys will do that. |

Had to watch on BBC last night. Thought we changed dramatically after Scott Brown came on. Commentary classic though - anyone else hear it?

Thought Hamilton was lucky to stay on pitch after assault on their keeper. But that goal will last a long time in my memory.
Hope that game reignites our season. _________________ Here Wee go again |

I used to have a bit of time for Jim Goodwin. I thought he was harshly dealt with at Aberdeen and that exit from Easter Road as Aberdeen manager to avoid the Press was horrible. But for someone who was the master of shithousery as a player his post match interview last night really was bitter to say the least. In true Jim Goodwin style .... we've taken 7 points from 9 against you so GIRFUY. Coming down in the car through Dundee tuned into TAY FM to hear Goodwin talking about being 7 points clear and a huge goal difference meaning 8 points, and fans reckoning the title would be sewn up ... well had a huge smile going back through Dundee on the way home.
To the game the starting line up looked surprising. I cant think of many circumstances where the team Captain and a collusus of a player would be dropped. No Easton, Connely, Hamilton equally surprising. The Millen issue needs clarifying by the club as equally strange he wasnt even in the squad.
The game strangely turned on Hamilton blootering their keeper. It brought us back to life when we looked like succumbing eventually to an increasingly dominant United.
Browns strike was one of these moments you get every 2 or 3 years. I forgot I was 60 years old and sprinted down the stairwell to celebrate. Absolute scenes.
Finally good to see Don Robertson not being influenced by wannabe Willie Miller in Tony Watt. What a (T)Watt. |

Just watched tonight's Sportscene.
Liam MacLeod was commentating on the Celtic v Killie game and sounded like a guy who was watching "after the lord mayor's show".
He seemed almost devoid of enthusiasm, giving the impression that what he was watching was a pale imitation of what he witnessed the night before. _________________ Dougie Hill

Can't stand him. He's a terrible commentator |

The substitutions changed the run of the game, but for me the Hamilton challenge on Watson was the catalyst for what then happened. The commentator called it too "I wonder if that challenge will spark the Rovers into life?" I think it definitely did. As for the booking it was fair, nothing more or less in my book. The ball was there to be challenged for, was he getting it? Never! But Watson stepped across to see it out, Hamilton obviously reasoning that he'd not get it but would give him something to think about for next time.
I think we still get shoved about too much, Hamilton won more in the air than Rudden did but why are we still trying it long? We don't have the stature to make it work. _________________ Competitive goals: Vaughan 19, Easton 11, Hamilton 10, Smith 9, Stanton 7, Mullin 4, Connolly 3, O'Reilly 3, Rudden 3, S Brown 2, Dick 1, Gullan 1, Masson 1, Matthews 1, Millen 1, Mitchell 1, Murray, Watson 1, OG's 1, |

I totally agree, but Hamilton's later challenge on Walton was a greater catalyst for the upturn in performance. _________________ Hope he's got plenty Rovers action to comment on tonight.... |

Until I watched the Inside Matchday video I'd actually forgotten how "agricultural" Sibbald's tackle on Smith was at the end of the first half. Rightly booked. Hamilton's on the keeper was perhaps slightly less poor as the keeper wasn't travelling at any speed compared to Smith. Again he was also rightly booked. _________________ Talk on! Talk on!
